Draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

27th February to 10th April 2017 | (Complete)

As part of the preparation of the Greater Exeter Strategic Plan an appraisal of the social, environmental and economic impact of the plan must be carried out. This appraisal is known as Sustainability Appraisal.

In addition to Sustainability Appraisal, the Greater Exeter Plan must comply with the requirements of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), in accordance with European Directive 2001/42/EC, to ensure that environmental effects are given full consideration alongside social and economic issues when preparing the plan. Therefore, the requirements of the SEA Directive have been incorporated into the Sustainability Appraisal scoping process.

In order to identify the scope and level of detail of the information to be included in the Sustainability Appraisal, a Draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report (SASR) was produced. This document was consulted on between 27th February and 10th April 2017 with Historic England, Natural England, the Environment Agency and other relevant bodies on the content of the Scoping Report. Whilst this is primarily a technical consultation other organisations and individuals were invited to submit representations.

Here are the comments we received. We are in the process of analysing the responses and are considering them as the Sustainability Appraisal progresses.
